MediClear by Thorne
MediClear is a rice protein-based nutritional supplement
designed to be used in elimination diet protocols, as an adjunct
to hepatic and bowel detoxification and for systemic inflammatory
control and allergy relief. MediClear can also be used in
protocols for increased gut permeability, dysbiosis or gastrointestinal
inflammation.
The MediClear system is designed to be a three-week detoxification
plan, and can be modified by the health care practitioner
according to individual patient needs.
When needed, the health care practitioner can add therapeutic
doses of other nutrients and botanicals to the regimen in
capsule form, for treatment of specific health concerns.
Macronutrients: Rice protein is used MediClear because
of its low incidence of allergenicity or intolerance. MediClear
provides easily utilized fat calories from medium chain triglycerides,
as well as olive oil and essential fatty acids from borage
oil. Carbohydrates are provided from molasses powder, SlimSweet
(Lo han fruit extract), and the rice protein powder.
Micronutrients: MediClear also contains micronutrients
(vitamins and minerals) necessary for detoxification and hepatic
support. And, in usual Thorne fashion, the nutrients are provided
in the most absorbable, best utilized forms; e.g. calcium
and magnesium citrate-malate, pyridoxal 5'-phosphate (activated
B6), folinic acid (activated folate) and chromium citrate.
Extra Nutrients and Botanicals: Catechins (from green
tea extract) are included to promote proper hepatic Phase
I detoxification. Glutathione - the premier intracellular
antioxidant - and N-acetylcysteine are added for their antioxidant
activity and to support hepatic Phase II detoxification. The
amino acids glycine and taurine, and the amino acid derivative
trimethylglycine, are also included for their supportive role
in Phase II detoxification, along with the sulfur-containing
compound MSM. Quercetin chalcone is included for its antioxidant
activity and mast cell stabilizing action.
